She wrote Gonna Make A Change based on the script and rough cut Curtis sent her of Hell On The Border that she fell in love with. Being shuffled in and out of meetings when he arrived and literally leaving the city’s music industry coveting and speechless at his natural abilities from live shows, writing, and the indie release of “Nobody Gotta Know,” JC was always content with being an “independent” singer/songwriter until “the right deal” presented itself. What separates the singer/songwriter from the droves of R&B hopefuls is he didn't have to choose this path. Though he has been belting gospel classics professionally since he was 9, JC graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, followed by a Master’s in Education with a highly impressive 4.0 GPA and was teaching high school as Mr. Crowder by day and exploiting his creative talents as JC by night. JC utters, “A plan B is great but music is my heart.”
“You just don’t understand what I've been through,” he says tiredly. "But I've never possessed the energy to give up doing what I love, despite being called a fool. I’m at a place in my career where my fulfillment comes from knowing I’m doing this Independently and still being successful both musically and financially, having fun, seeing the world, and making good music.”
Where sex and scandal ravage through the airwaves, JC offers sensuality and feeling, and at times his music can merely be described as just “cool.” His music is littered with hidden meanings and innuendos, but it’s always backed with chart topping production and the components that hit songs are made of. This baby-faced, multi-platinum singer/songwriter has many colorful tales surrounding his entry into the business….common, yet, vividly unusual stories of death threats, being cheated, being broke, and politics that cut his progress short. He has many, “And then…what happen was…” moments, things that should have made him throw in the towel but JC hung on. The Nashville, TN native and Atlanta, GA resident understands that it’s all a part of the process. He was even forced involuntarily to go under the knife for vocal surgery five times! Doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center told JC they’d try to recover his “speaking voice” but singing again “probably just wouldn't happen.” God obviously had another plan in mind because JC’s been crooning just fine. When JC presented a CD of recorded songs to his doctors, they were brought to tears!
JC’s career really began to kick off after the independent release of his first album All of Me, which was a major global success. He would later gut out a passenger van and fill it with his belongings, as he began the short yet seemingly uncertain trek from Nashville to Atlanta. Being shuffled in and out of meetings when he arrived and literally leaving the city’s music industry coveting and speechless at his natural abilities from live shows, writing, and the indie release of “Nobody Gotta Know,” JC was always content with being an “independent” singer/songwriter until “the right deal” presented itself. As a driven entrepreneur, JC plans to continue showcasing his music and catapult his career even further with his company No.2 Pencil Muzik, LLC which concentrates on songwriting, producer management, vocal production, and artist development aspects of the industry.
JC has further made his mark in the music industry as a songwriter and vocal producer, developing several artists & producers. The sound of ’90s R&B seems to be all the rage nowadays. Therefore, it only makes senses that some of our faves from one of the genres golden eras would want to bask a little in all that shine. Welp, ladies, we hope you’re ready to feel like it’s 1997 all over again because Jon B and Donell Jones have teamed up for the unexpected R&B collaboration that you didn’t know you wanted. The duo have released their anticipated single “Understand,” the newest single from Jon that features both crooners doing what they do best.
In a brilliant collaboration with sumptuous, sexy and intriguing vibes and lyrical genius, this new track embodies pure genius. Jon B and Donell Jones have in ‘Understand’ created not only a truly magical song, but a song that in it’s entirety is emotion exquisite.
Once you press play, you’ll notice that there’s no switch up to the formula here. The production for the track sounds like it dropped off of Jon’s ’97 album Cool Relax, from the light strains of guitar to the synth horn stabs on the chorus. Likewise, the fellas’ vocals seem to have aged like fine wine and sound like almost no time has passed since we first met them way back when. Since their voices are similar in tone, the duet is pretty seamless as their harmonies often meld together as they sing about doing any and everything to make their lady know the extent of their love.

Jon and Donell also prove to have an almost brotherly chemistry in the song’s accompanying video. We see them performing the track on a couple of soundstages while dressed in their slickest threads as they serenade the viewer. Also getting time on the screen is the clip’s lone female star, who dances and writhes to the slinky rhythm.

About Ha Phuong & Ha Phuong Foundation
Ha Phuong, a petite dynamo with a huge heart and a big name in her native Vietnam is now an artist in residence, deeply entrenched New Yorker. Living here, she is more determined than ever to help make the world a better place, inspired by her upbringing in Vietnam as well as her love for her daughters, and for all people. “HP,” as she is known to her friends, is an accomplished actress, singer and now movie producer: working on her feature film, a dramatic thriller in which she stars, is called Finding Julia. Always eager to develop further, Ha Phuong expanded her repertoire to include acting, studying with prominent teachers. The Vietnam Relief Effort aids in school buildings, funding surgeries for war veterans and disable people; and bringing Vietnamese doctors to the U.S. for training. She has done so much work that in 2016, Phuong was named a “Top Donor to UNICEF.” In an extraordinary demonstration of her commitment to helping others, Ha Phuong pledged 100% of her future earnings from her music and acting career to the Foundation. BTF aka BEHINDTHEFRAMES was born in New York and raised in Florida. During his earlier years, he fell in love with Rap. With a strong sense of self and pride, his presence gives a statement that you don't have to pretend to be something you're not to be a Rapper. Giving full respect and appreciation to all legends, for his storytelling flow is influenced from a wide range of Rap/HipHop classics; BTF strives to honor the genre by maintaining the genuine essence of it. In hopes of earning the respect from not only the game, but the artists of generations before. Being a private school student, he was surrounded by doubt; even within himself he began to question "How can I make this happen?". He was well aware of the obvious factors that were going to be against him. Studying the art form, he began to gain the drive to prove himself. Throughout high school he released tracks that started getting attention as he paved his own way. Looking up to other Rappers, BTF saw what being a transcendingartist required. Keeping it honest while inspiring others to chase their dreams no matter the odds, he began to work.
